      In this video I'm using bands from Rep Fitness. They only come in 1 length which works well if you are using plates like I was here. However, if you're using kettlebells I'd actually recommend the short bands from Elitefts.

    Thanks for this Dylan. Gonna build this in a couple of weeks, also adding 1/2” pipe inside the 1” for extra strength. Also, unsure how you get your costing for this but just FYI the 10’ 1-1/2” Schedule 40 pipe alone is upwards of $40 CAD. The whole shebang ends up being about $100 CAD. Maybe there’s a huge difference in cost for building supplies between the USA and Canada…? Just wanted to post that here for any folks from Canada wanting to use your build here. Thanks again!

    • @DylanKJohnson
      @DylanKJohnson 28 дней назад

      Wow, I didn't realize the materials had increased so much! I did make this almost 5 years ago, so a bit of an increase is expected over time, but that's crazy that the cost has more than doubled! Unfortunately it's probably just overall "inflation" and not exclusively a Canada vs US difference. Hope the build goes well and you enjoy the bar! 🤙💪

    Dylan this is good work and thank you. What is missing is even one overhead shot of the weights on the actual build. As I calculate you have about 3" of room at the front. What you have built are modified grouped straight roll "piano dollies". These are just as easily built as double weight units easier to move even on foam. Is there a reason for not splitting them as you would be accessing for use more than 2 weights at a time Sir? My neighbor has asked me to build the same I will later share the results engineered.

    The set up I'm planning, involves two small plate loaded cable towers mounted right beside a wall rack, with some little hooks drilled into and attached with washers to the side of the levers. Can't get a more consistent strength curve than 1:1 pulleys. At most, I'll need to get chain or extension cords in case stuff doesn't align perfectly.

    I bought it for leg press with the lever arms but I find the angle of the feet just isn’t right, what do you do?

    • @DylanKJohnson
      @DylanKJohnson 2 месяца назад

      The best way I've found to replicate a leg press using it and lever as is by first attaching a set of spotter arms to the bottom side of the lever arms, the attaching the utility seat to the spotter arms. That gives you a much better angle that's closer to like a hip press machine. Then you can load the weight on the end of the lever arms and it will also give you a better resistance curve. The hardest part is just finding a way to anchor your bench so it doesn't move. Look up a hammer strength hip press machine and it will give you a good idea of what I'm talking about 🤙

    You're so right about stuff that takes time to setup is not used as much. I have Rep Open trap bar that's in barbell holder and don't set it up and use it that much it weighs 60lbs and is a pain to get back in there. I have Bells of Steel leg curl/extension which is ok but range of motion sucks so use athena cable on it plus weight and setup is a pain. I use it once a week even though I do two leg days per week. Can't decide on XMark stand alone leg curl/extension of Bulletproof Isolator which is even heavier and would require me to build onto my rack to permanently house it. What do you do for hamstrings? Maybe there's a better movement! I hacked together a cheap glute ham raise which is my fave for that muscle have to use a band to assist now.

  • @chrisdonnell2575

    Damn wish I had bought this vs Gym Pin's version which has smaller holes and doesn't support landmine. I have Rep PR4000 and dual Athenas which I combine with the GymPin to get 220lbs, use bands often as well. I'm probably going to order this this weekend love landmine rows using 25lb plates for more range of motion. Have another GymPin device that fits on end and I attach handles too but would love a wide grip sometimes with it. Thanks for mentioning weight, this thing is so light won't pull down stack with no pin fantastic! One thing you might like is the Kleva Atlas multi grip bar love that as well great knurling on it and its super light as well.

      It's actually super easy. I personally leave the 16" crossmembers attached to my lever arms so it's just a matter of moving them up to the right position and attaching a carabiner to one of the bolt holes of the crossmember. Hardest part is moving the lever arms up as they are a bit heavy with everything on them, but it's not too bad.

      This is the setup I use now because I leave the 16" crossmembers attached to my levers arms 99% of the time. The feel of the movement is just about identical to when I used the safeties, but because I keep the extra crossmembers attached it's quicker and easier to setup for me.
